In the recent U.S. Consumer’s Guide to Electric Vehicles by EPRI it was evident that electric vehicles (EVs) are here to stay. There are currently around 40 models and the projection by 2022 is that the market should have nearly 90 different styles. - Plug-in hybrids: They have the plug-in capability while still having a traditional combustion engine. They typically can go between 10-50 miles on electric and then switch to gas power.
- Battery EVs (all-electric): These do not operate with gasoline at all. These go much further on electricity than the hybrid models.
